Renal cell carcinoma with angioleiomyoma-like stroma and clear cell papillary renal cell carcinoma: Exploring SDHB protein immunohistochemistry and the relationship to tuberous sclerosis complex
Human Pathology Nov 30, 2017
Williamson SR, et al. - Researchers aspired to inspect the succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) B protein immunohistochemistry along with the correlation to the tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) in the case of renal cell carcinoma. Recent reports of smooth muscle-rich tumors were brought to light in patients with TSC. However, the absence of staining in tumors with this pattern could not be specific for TSC. Cautious interpretation of immunohistochemical staining for SDHB was recommended, as an evidence of abnormality in the SDH pathway, in tumors with pale or clear cytoplasm.
