Remission and low disease activity state (LDAS) are protective of intermediate and long-term outcomes in SLE patients: Results from LUMINA (LXXVIII), a multiethnic, multicenter US cohort
Lupus Mar 14, 2019
Alarcon GS, et al. - Investigators quantified 558 individuals including 28% Caucasian, 37% African descent, 35% Hispanic to study the consequence of remission and low disease activity state (LDAS) on damage accrual and mortality in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) cases. They recorded 3879 visits of total candidates corresponding to 71 in remission, 585 in LDAS, and 3223 active. They recognized an inverse relation of the percentage of time in remission/LDAS to damage accrual (rate ratio 0.1773). They observed an insignificant pattern in terms of mortality.
