Remifentanil patient-controlled analgesia in labour: Six-year audit of outcome data of the RemiPCA SAFE Network (2010–2015)
International Journal of Obstetric Anesthesia Jan 28, 2019
Melber AA, et al. - A sum of 5749 datasets of the RemiPCA SAFE Network database from 2010 to 2015 were retrospectively examined to develop a network standard to record maternal and neonatal outcome data, including severe unfavorable experiences. Researchers noticed no requirement for maternal ventilation or cardiopulmonary resuscitation. They observed a necessity for neonatal cardiopulmonary resuscitations (related to remifentanil) in 0.3%. A low rate of supplemental oxygen stress in neonates along with a moderate rate of maternal hypoxia was also recorded. They proposed a safe application of remifentanil patient-controlled analgesia.
