Reliable outcomes and survivorship of primary total knee arthroplasty for osteonecrosis of the knee
The Bone & Joint Journal Nov 13, 2019
Chalmers BP, et al. - A total of 156 individuals who underwent 167 primary TKAs performed for osteonecrosis between 2004 and 2014 at a single institution were evaluated in order to investigate outcomes of contemporary TKAs for osteonecrosis, with special stress on, ie, survivorship free from aseptic loosening, any revision, and any reoperation plus the clinical outcomes, complications, and radiological results. A total of 110 and 57 TKAs were conducted for primary and secondary osteonecrosis, respectively. It was discovered that for osteonecrosis, contemporary cemented TKAs with selective stem utilization led to enduring survivorship, a low complication rate, and reliable betterment in clinical outcomes.
