Reliability and validity of the Adult Hope Scale among nursing home residents with and without cognitive impairment

DiGasbarro D, et al. - Researchers investigated whether the Adult Hope Scale affords a reliable as well as a valid tool for older adults with and without cognitive impairment who were recently admitted to a nursing home. In this study, they included 64 recently admitted nursing home residents. Cognitive impairment was present in 32 of these individuals. The participants were administered the Adult Hope Scale and measures of concurrent and divergent validity. Findings revealed good to excellent reliability as well as the validity of the Adult Hope Scale as a measure of hope in this sample of older adults with and without cognitive impairment who were recently admitted to a nursing home.
