Relative expression and prognostic significance of forkhead box P3 in childhood B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia
Pediatric Blood & Cancer Jun 23, 2021
Abdelhafeez HEDA, Hamid FFA, Hassan NM, et al. - Forkhead box P3 (FOXP3) is a marker of regulatory T cells, which functions as a transcription factor involved in immune cell regulation, and its expression is reported to be linked with prognosis in many malignancies. Researchers herein investigated the relative gene expression level of FOXP3 in childhood B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) as well as examined its prognostic utility. One hundred thirty-nine bone marrow samples retrieved from 112 patients at diagnosis and 27 healthy children were included in this study. Outcomes revealed inferior outcome in correlation with high FOXP3 relative expression suggesting its potential value as a molecular prognostic marker to prognosticate childhood B-ALL patients’ outcomes.
