Relationships between markers of inflammation and bone density: Findings from the Hertfordshire Cohort Study
Osteoporosis International Jun 04, 2018
Fuggle NR, et al. - Authors assessed the relationship between indices of inflammation and bone mineral density (BMD) in a population-based cohort of older adults in the UK. Findings suggested an association of high levels of adiponectin and adiponectin to leptin ratios with lower BMD at the lumbar spine and femoral neck at baseline. Lower IL-10 was related to the accelerated decline in BMD at the lumbar spine. Therefore findings provided an additive support to the theory that bone health can be influenced by changes in immune phenotype and alterations in adipokine homeostasis.
