Relationship of sarcopenia with steatohepatitis and advanced liver fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease: A meta-analysis
BMC Gastroenterology | Apr 26, 2018
Yu R, et al. - Using Pubmed, the Cochrane Library and EMBASE databases, researchers sought to appraise and quantify the association between sacropenia and the histological severity of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). This was the first meta-analysis to investigate sarcopenia with steatohepatitis and advanced liver fibrosis in NAFLD. In patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, findings reported a correlation between sarcopenia with a higher likelihood of having steatohepatitis or advanced liver fibrosis. Yielded data did not disclose any prominent heterogeneity among studies in all comparisons.
