Relationship between tongue strength, lip strength, and nutrition-related sarcopenia in older rehabilitation inpatients: A cross-sectional study

Sakai K, et al. – This research was designed to shed light on the link between tongue strength, lip strength, and nutrition–related sarcopenia (NRS) in older rehabilitation inpatients. Findings demonstrated a decline in the likelihood of NRS occurrence when tongue strength or lip strength increased. In these subjects, tongue strength and lip strength were identified as possible crucial factors needed for preventing and improving NRS, irrespective of the presence of low oral intake level.
