Karademirci MM, et al. - This case-control analytical study represents an attempt to examine the vitamin E, vitamin C and total antioxidant status (TAS), total oxidant status (TOS), oxidative stress index (OSI) in smoking and non-smoking men. Researchers found that non-smokers vs smokers had significantly higher levels of the TAS, vitamin C and vitamin E. In addition, smokers exhibited higher levels of TOS and OSI. It is known that cigarette smoking leads to various diseases due to the free radicals it contains.
