Relationship between sleep disturbance and self-care in adults with type 2 diabetes
Acta Diabetologica Jun 25, 2018
Zhu B, et al. - Using a correlational design, the researchers explored the association between sleep disturbance and self-care in adults with type 2 diabetes (T2D). This study was conducted on 64 adults with T2D. In adults with T2D, subjective sleep disturbance and frequent nocturnal awakenings were linked with worse diabetes self-care. Comprehensive sleep assessment at every clinical visit should be included by healthcare providers. Findings suggested that diabetes instructors could consider including sleep-related education in their diabetes self-management classes and/or counseling sessions.
