Relationship between obstructive sleep apnoea syndrome and essential hypertension: A dose-response meta-analysis
Sleep Medicine | Apr 18, 2018
Xia W, et al. - Authors sought to describe the correlation between obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) and the risk of essential hypertension in this dose-response meta-analysis. The risk of essential hypertension increased by 17% for every 10 events/h increase in the apnea–hypopnea index (AHI), as per the linear dose–response meta-analysis. The non-linear dose–response meta-analysis illustrated that the risk of essential hypertension increased with increasing AHI value. With evidence of this potential dose–response association, this relationship should be kept in mind while developing prevention measures for essential hypertension.
