Relationship between natural killer cell activity and glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes and prediabetes
Journal of Diabetes Investigation Feb 12, 2019
Kim JH, et al. - In this cross-sectional study, researchers evaluated the natural killer (NK) cell, cytotoxic lymphocytes critical to human immunity, activity and various metabolic parameters in people with type 2 diabetes, prediabetes and normal glucose tolerance. The study sample consisted of 49 participants. According to findings, patients with type 2 diabetes have a decreased activity of NK cells and are significantly associated with glucose control vs people with normal glucose tolerance or prediabetes. In patients with type 2 diabetes, multiple regression analysis showed that glycated hemoglobin is an independent predictor of NK cell activity.
