Relationship between genetic risk and age of diagnosis in systemic lupus erythematosus
The Journal of Rheumatology Jun 05, 2021
Dominguez D, Kamphuis S, Beyene J, et al. - This study was carried out to ascertain whether there is a correlation between non-HLA–related genetic risk score (GRS) and age of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) diagnosis, and between HLA-related GRS and age of SLE diagnosis. Researchers obtained genomic DNA from 2001 multiethnic patients and genotyped using the Immunochip. A total of 1,540 patients were included in this cohort: 1351 females and 189 males (675 cSLE and 865 aSLE). A linear relationship was observed between genetic risk and age of SLE diagnosis and that HLA and non-HLA GRS are correlated with age of diagnosis in opposite directions.
