Relationship between fasting plasma glucose and incidence of diabetes in children and adolescents
Diabetic Medicine Feb 11, 2019
Yang CY, et al. - Based on its ability to predict paediatric diabetes, researchers studied the appropriate fasting plasma glucose threshold to define prediabetes in children and adolescents. Those with abnormal results in repeated urine tests were subjected to further physical examination and blood tests in a national survey of diabetes and renal disease in all school-aged children in Taiwan between 1992 and 2000. Findings suggested an association of fasting plasma glucose with the incidence of paediatric diabetes. The outcomes can be used as reference data for the definition of paediatric prediabetes by a cut-off value.
