Clinical Endocrinology Apr 01, 2021
Simons PIHG, Valkenburg O, Telgenkamp I, et al. - Researchers conducted this cross‐sectional study to address the role of de novo lipogenesis (DNL) on serum sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG) in humans. Participants in the study were healthy men (n = 34) and women (n = 21). Data reported that 42% of candidates had hepatic steatosis and the majority were overweight (62%) or obese (27%). In women, but not in men, there was an inverse relationship between DNL and serum SHBG measured with stable isotopes.
