Relationship between acne and the use of cosmetics: Results of a questionnaire study in 539 Korean individuals
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Jun 25, 2021
Suh DH, Oh H, Lee SJ, et al. - Researchers intended to determine if there is an association between cosmetic use patterns and acne. A total of 539 acne vulgaris patients [170 male and 369 female] who visited three dermatologic clinics in Korea were asked to complete a questionnaire about their condition, including clinical features and exacerbating factors such as cosmetic use. This study demonstrated the impact of cosmetics, particularly in acne patients with a history of treatment failures. These findings also reveal distinctions based on specific cosmetic types and formulations. As a result, dermatologists should consider advising acne patients on cosmetic use in addition to medical treatment options for acne patients.
