Relations of changes in serum carcinoembryonic antigen levels before and after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and after surgery to histologic response and outcomes in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer
Oncology Dec 31, 2017
Saito G, et al. - Researchers here studied the relations of the serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels before starting neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy (nCRT), after the completion of nCRT, and after resection of the primary lesion to the histologic response and outcomes in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer. Based on the findings, they suggested the reliability of using changes in serum CEA levels (measured before nCRT, after nCRT, and after surgery) in predicting the histologic response to nCRT and outcomes.
