Relation of serum uric acid and cardiovascular events in adults aged 20-49 years
The American Journal of Cardiology Jun 17, 2021
Seki H, Kaneko H, Morita H, et al. - Researchers used a nationwide epidemiological database to investigate whether and how medication naïve serum uric acid (SUA) was associated with incident cardiovascular disease (CVD) including myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure and atrial fibrillation, in a sample of 353,613 participants aged 20–49 years, who were not receiving uric acid lowering medications, and had no prevalent history of CVD. They found increased incidence of CVD events in relation to higher SUA among participants aged< 50 years, this indicates that optimal UA control is potentially significant for the primary CVD prophylaxis even in young adults.
