Relation of meniscus pathology to prevalence and worsening of patellofemoral joint osteoarthritis: The multicenter osteoarthritis study
Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Feb 12, 2018
Hart HF, et al. - This study aimed to assess the association between the meniscal damage and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) features of compartment-specific patellofemoral joint (PFJ) osteoarthritis (OA) at baseline and 2 years later. Results illustrated the relationship between meniscal tear and extrusion with an increased risk of medial and lateral PFJ OA and more severe meniscal pathology was noted to be associated with worsening of PFJ OA 2 years later. It was discovered that lateral meniscal pathology was more detrimental to the lateral PFJ.
