Relation of IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 with prevalent and incident atrial fibrillation in a population-based study

Busch M, et al. - In a large population-based study, researchers examined how insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) and IGFBP-3 levels impact atrial fibrillation (AF) by collecting data from the Study of Health in Pomerania (SHIP). According to results, 66 (2.1%) of the 3,160 participants showed baseline AF. Findings suggested an association of low IGF-1/IGFBP-3 ratios with a greater prevalence of AF, with a comparable effect on AF incident.
