Relation of cigarette smoking and alcohol drinking in midlife with risk of cognitive impairment in late life: The Singapore Chinese Health Study
Age and Aging Oct 15, 2018
Wu J, et al. - Experts evaluated the association of cigarette smoking and alcohol consumption in midlife with the risk of cognitive impairment in late life. They analyzed data from 16,948 adult study participants; data on smoking and alcohol consumption were collected at baseline, when participants were aged 45-74 years. A total of 14.4% of participants were found to have cognitive impairment. Findings indicated that the co-existence of smoking and regular alcohol consumption at midlife had a much more significant affect than the individual factors of cognitive impairment in late life.
