Relation between chest CT findings and clinical conditions of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pneumonia: A multicenter study
American Journal of Roentgenology Mar 07, 2020
Zhao W, et al. - A multicenter study was performed to examine the relationship between chest CT findings and the clinical conditions of COVID-19 pneumonia. Researchers retrospectively obtained data on 101 cases of COVID-19 pneumonia from four institutions in Hunan, China. Basic clinical characteristics and detailed imaging features were assessed and analyzed between two groups based on clinical status: nonemergency (mild or common disease) and emergency (severe or fatal disease). The results showed that individuals with confirmed COVID-19 pneumonia have typical imaging features that can be effective in early screening of highly suspected cases and the evaluation of the severity and extent of disease. It was noted that most individuals with COVID-19 pneumonia have ground-glass opacities (GGO) or mixed GGO and consolidation and vascular enlargement in the lesion. It was indicated that the CT involvement score can benefit for the assessment of the severity and extent of the disease.
