Reinforcement of barrier function and scalp homeostasis by Senkyunolide A to fight against dandruff
International Journal of Cosmetic Science Aug 26, 2017
Mondon P, et al. – The goal of this paper was to assess the in vitro and in vivo the effect of Senkyunolide–A (SENKY) on epidermal function improvement, Malassezia effect control, scalp soothing and dandruff reduction, by means of the skin protection related pathways. SENKY promoted the scalp homeostasis by reinforcing barrier and defence functions at both gene and protein levels. A reduction was noted in the irritation and redness in promoting detoxification and anti–inflammation pathways while controlling the niche of Malassezia. SENKY caused a marked reduction in the formation of dandruff and soothed the scalp, when applied on the scalp.
