Regional supply of outreach service and length of stay in psychiatric hospital among patients with schizophrenia: National case mix data analysis in Japan

Niimura J, et al. – Purpose of this investigation was to clarify the association between length of stay in a psychiatric hospital and regional supply of outreach services. Findings revealed that patients stayed longer in the region with a fewer number of visits for psychiatric nursing care at home. Results of this study suggested that enhanced supply of the outreach service would prevent prolonged hospital stay.
