Regarding the use of PSMA PET-CT vs conventional imaging for assessing the value of prophylactic whole-pelvis radiation for high-risk prostate cancer
Journal of Clinical Oncology Jun 09, 2021
Brenneman RJ, Baumann BC, Gay HA, et al. - Researchers presented the outcomes from their phase III Prostate-Only or whole Pelvic Radiation Therapy (POP-RT) trial. They randomized men with nonmetastatic high-risk prostate cancer (PCa) who were treated with long-term androgen deprivation therapy in a ratio 1:1 to whole pelvic radiotherapy (WPRT, n = 110) or prostate-only radiotherapy (PORT, n = 114). No difference was found in overall survival. The findings revealed that WPRT with long-term androgen deprivation improves outcomes in nonmetastatic high-risk PCa.
