Refractory urgency urinary incontinence treatment in women: Impact of age on outcomes and complications

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Oct 17, 2017

Komesu YM, et al. - This study entailed comparison of treatment efficacy and adverse events (AEs) in women <65 and ≥65 years old treated with onabotulinumtoxinA or sacral neuromodulation (SNM) for refractory urgency urinary incontinence (UUI). Greater absolute continence, symptom improvement, and fewer UTIs were the reported treatment outcomes in younger women. Furthermore, patients of both age groups had beneficial UUI episode (UUIE) reduction, similar rates of other treatment adverse events and improved quality of life.
