The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology Mar 13, 2018
Peters MC, et al. - Whether airway type 2 inflammation persists in patients treated with inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) was determined herein. The clinical features of patients with steroid resistant airway type-2 inflammation were also assessed. Persistent airway type 2 inflammation, (steroid-resistant type 2-high asthma) was noted in many asthmatics despite ICS therapy and these patients were older and had more severe disease. The performance of blood-based biomarkers of airway type-2 inflammation was modified by body weight and age.
