Reference values of liver volume in Caucasian population and factors influencing liver size
European Journal of Radiology Jul 12, 2018
Kromrey ML, et al. - Researchers examined factors influencing liver size as well as determined reference values of liver volume (LV) for healthy subjects. Participants in the study were 2,773 volunteers who underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the liver in the setting of the population based Study. It was observed that LV was affected by age, gender, body mass index, and alcohol consumption. Data reported that parenchymal liver diseases, like fibrosis/cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, hepatic iron overload influence size of the liver. In addition, reference values were established to help in the diagnosis of parenchymal liver diseases.
