Türkmen T, et al. - Researchers elucidated red blood cell (RBC) alloimmunization in neonates and children up to 3 years of age. This study was the largest longitudinal cohort study of RBC alloimmunization in neonates. This study did not detect antibodies against RBC antigens within the first 6 months of life. It was reported that repeat antibody screening and cross-matching during the first months of life could be safely omitted.
