Recurrent early stage endometrial cancer: Patterns of recurrence and results of salvage therapy
Gynecologic Oncology Apr 29, 2019
Francis SR, et al. - In this investigation, researchers analyzed their institutional experience and oncologic results for salvage treatment for the recurrence of early-stage endometrial cancer patients. At the institutions, they involved women of all ages diagnosed with FIGO stage I-II, any grade endometrial cancer from 2000 to 2016 who were treated with at least a hysterectomy. There were 2691 women analyzed in total. According to findings, failure rates are low for women with early-stage endometrial cancer. Compared to pelvic or distant recurrences, women with vaginal-only recurrences have improved OS. For the treatment of women with vaginal-only recurrences, salvage radiotherapy seems to be an important factor. Aggressive treatment with multimodality may benefit women with pelvic recurrences.
