Recurrent acute decompensated heart failure admissions for patients with reduced vs preserved ejection fraction (from the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study)
The American Journal of Cardiology Apr 03, 2018
Caughey MC, et al. - Researchers intended to gain better insight into recurrent admissions for acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) for patients with reduced vs preserved ejection fraction (HFrEF and HFpEF). Using medical records and repeat-measures Cox regression models, recurrent admissions for ADHF were analyzed within 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, and 1 year of the index hospitalization in the ARIC Study. They found that there was a greater burden of short and long-term readmissions for recurrent ADHF among patients with HFrEF. Patients with HFpEF were more often women and had more comorbidities.
