Recurrence risk after preoperative biopsy in patients with resected early-stage non-small-cell lung cancer: A retrospective study
Cancer Management and Research Jul 18, 2018
Hu CP, et al. - In completely resected non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), if the risk of recurrence is impacted by preoperative biopsy was investigated in this study comprising 322 patients diagnosed as pathological stage I NSCLC. The controls included patients using intraoperative biopsy (IOB). Those using preoperative percutaneous needle biopsy (PNB) or bronchoscopic biopsy were also included. Researchers found that the recurrence risk in patients with resected stage I NSCLC was not increased in association with the use of either preoperative PNB or bronchoscopic biopsy and therefore, these procedures could be safely used for diagnosis of early-stage NSCLC.
