Recurrence, death, and secondary malignancy after ovarian conservation for young women with early-stage low-grade endometrial cancer

Gynecologic Oncology Oct 18, 2019

Matsuo K, Cripe JC, Kurnit KC, et al. - In this multicenter retrospective study of women aged < 50 with stage I grade 1–2 endometrioid endometrial cancer who underwent primary surgery with hysterectomy from 2000 to 2014 (US cohort n = 1,196, and Japan cohort n = 495), experts investigated the correlation between ovarian conservation and oncologic outcome in surgically-treated young females with early-stage, low-grade endometrial cancer. In young women with early-stage low-grade endometrial cancer, the adoption of ovarian conservation fluctuates by population. For young women with early-stage, low-grade endometrial cancer, ovarian conservation could be possibly related to elevated risks of ovarian recurrence or metachronous secondary ovarian cancer in particular populations, although, ovarian conservation did not negatively influence overall survival.
