de Cássia Almeida Vieira R, et al. - In this study, the recovery of patients with pure Diffuse axonal injury (DAI) who remained in a coma for 6 hours or more after brain injury was assessed. Observations revealed high mortality among patients with DAI. However, among almost all survivors, favorable outcomes at 6 months were evident. In the first 3 months, functional improvement was more pronounced.
