BMJ Open Sep 27, 2017
Dahlgren C, et al. - A registry-based prospective cohort study was performed to investigate whether recording in primary care of a previously recorded hospital diagnosis was related to increased patient utilization of prescribed medications. Recording a diagnosis of TIA/stroke or acute coronary syndrome in primary care was observed to be related to the higher dispensation of prescribed secondary preventive medications. Further study is essential in order to ascertain the mechanisms underlying these outcomes and to establish the utility of these findings.
