Reconstitution of IgG subclasses following immunoglobulin administration in adult patients with common variable immune deficiency
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology Oct 19, 2020
Reeder D, et al. - Researchers undertook this single-institution, retrospective chart review of adult common variable immune deficiency (CVID) patients, to ascertain whether there was a correlation between lack of clinical response to immunoglobulin (Ig) therapy and lack of reconstitution of IgG subclass (es) in these patients. They also investigated correlation between Ig dosing and/or IgG trough concentrations and IgG subclass reconstitution. The most common impaired Streptococcus pneumoniae (S. pneumoniae) serotype antibody response was also determined herein. They found increased frequency of infections in relation to incomplete IgG subclass reconstitution. A correlation of IgG trough levels with IgG subclass reconstitution was also evident. In CVID, a limited number of S. pneumoniae serotype antibodies were shown to be commonly impaired.
