Recipient characteristics and morbidity and mortality after liver transplantation
Journal of Hepatology Feb 22, 2018
Asrani SK, et al. - The intention of the researchers was to investigate a parsimonious set of recipient factors among hepatitis C (HCV) negative adult transplant recipients linked with significant morbidity and mortality within 5 years after liver transplantation. It was reported that in center specific data within the first year, subjects with ≥ 5 points (vs 0-4) had longer hospitalization, higher admissions for rehabilitation, and a higher incidence of cardiac disease and stage 3 chronic kidney disease within 5 years. Findings illustrated that the proposed clinical tool could be beneficial for center-specific assessment of the risk of graft failure in non HCV patients and discussion regarding relevant morbidity in selected subsets.
