Recent increase in incidence of invasive serogroup W meningococcal disease: A retrospective observational studyy
International Journal of Infectious Diseases Jun 09, 2021
Hovmand N, Lundbo LF, Kronborg G, et al. - This study sought to present epidemiological characteristics and risks of poor outcomes correlated with invasive meningococcal disease in Denmark since 1980. Researchers estimated incidence rates by age, gender, manifestation, and serogroup. They used poisson regression to examine the rise in serogroup W and multivariate logistic analysis was applied to examine risk factors for mortality. They examined a total of 5,825 cases. It was shown that invasive meningococcal disease caused by serogroup W was elevated but serogroup per se was not correlated with an elevated risk of 30-day mortality.
