Gynecologic Oncology Dec 24, 2021
Monk BJ, Smith G, Lima J, et al. - Using electronic health records from a real-world database, researchers conducted this retrospective cohort study with the aim to describe real-world outcomes of women with advanced endometrial cancer in the USA.
Researchers identified a total of 2,202 women with advanced/recurrent endometrial cancer (AEC) for inclusion.
Most of these women received treatment in a community setting (82.7%) and presented with stage III/IV disease at initial diagnosis (74.0%).
Platinum-based combination chemotherapy was provided to most of these women as the first systemic treatment for advanced/recurrent disease.
Overall poor survival outcomes were recorded, especially in women with advanced uterine serous carcinoma.
Despite similar demographics and treatment pathways, worse outcomes were recorded for black/African American women when compared with white women,
