Fatoye F, et al. - Authors ascertained the incidence and prevalence of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in the population of Alberta, Canada, using administrative health data. Over the 16-year period, the prevalence of SLE has increased despite the stable incidence of SLE. In Alberta, health service utilizations will be affected by the increase in the prevalence of SLE. For planning and evaluating health services for this group of patients, these results can be used. The incidence of SLE over the 16-year period was approximately six times higher in women than in men.
