Re-evaluating the potential impact and cost-effectiveness of rotavirus vaccination in 73 Gavi countries: A modelling study
The Lancet Global Health Nov 15, 2019
Debellut F, Clark A, Pecenka C, et al. - The possible costs and impacts of rotavirus vaccination for ten succeeding birth cohorts in 73 countries formerly and currently eligible for Gavi support, in comparison with no vaccination was calculated in order to give updated cost-efficiency estimates to inform national decisions regarding the new addition and current use of rotavirus vaccines in Gavi countries. It was estimated that over the period 2018–27, rotavirus vaccination has the ability to prevent nearly 600,000 deaths in Gavi countries. Thus, across most Gavi countries, rotavirus vaccination proceeds to designate superior value for money irrespective of lower rotavirus mortality estimates and more robust willingness-to-pay thresholds.
