Rate of acute hospital admissions before and after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery: A population-based cohort study

Gribsholt SB, et al. - Researchers, in this work, investigated the rates of acute inpatient hospital admissions patients undergoing Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) surgery and a matched population-based comparison cohort. In 3% RYGB patients, short-term surgical complications occurred and long-term complications were observed in one-fourth of RYGB patients. The rate ratios for any inpatient admission increased after RYGB compared with the general population.
