Blesneac I, et al. - In a deeply phenotyped cohort of patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN), researchers investigate the relationship between variants in the voltage-gated sodium channel Na_V1.7 and neuropathic pain (NeuP). As per findings, rare Na_V1.7 variants contribute to the development NeuP in these patients. It seems that identification of these variants could aid understanding of sensory phenotype, patient stratification, and help target treatments effectively.
