Rapid recovery total joint arthroplasty is safe, efficient, and cost effective in the veteran’s administration setting
Journal of Arthroplasty Jul 17, 2018
Yanik JM, et al. - Authors assessed the comprehensive impact of a rapid recovery perioperative total joint arthroplasty (TJA) protocol in the Veterans Health Administration (VA) setting. Decreased length of stay (LOS), decreased cost of perioperative healthcare, and an increase in patients discharging directly home without increased readmission or complication rates were led by the implementation of a rapid recovery TJA protocol in the VA setting. Findings suggested importance of such protocols as there is a transition into an era of value based arthroplasty.
