The Journal of Infectious Diseases | Dec 10, 2017
Biering-Sørensen S, et al. - Data from three randomised trials (RCTs) of early Bacille Calmette-Guérin (BCG) was examined to assess the potential sex-differences in the timing of the mortality reduction in the neonatal period, presenting meta-estimates of the main outcome mortality rate ratios (MRR) for BCG-vaccinated and controls. Researchers observed marked a reduction in mortality in the first few days after BCG vaccination in boys highlighting the importance of providing BCG as soon as possible after birth.
