Rapid eye movement sleep behaviour disorder and striatal dopamine depletion in patients with Parkinson's disease
European Journal of Neurology Aug 11, 2017
Chung SJ, et al. – The experts undertook this study to confirm whether clinically probable rapid eye movement sleep behaviour disorder (cpRBD) in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) was correlated with a specific pattern of striatal dopamine depletion. They indicated that in patients with PD, the presence of rapid eye movement sleep behaviour disorder (RBD) was associated with different patterns of both motor deficit distribution and striatal dopamine transporter (DAT) depletion, implying that the presence of RBD represented a distinct PD subtype with a malignant motor parkinsonism.
