Randomized trial of the Carpentier–Edwards supra-annular prosthesis vs the Medtronic Mosaic aortic prosthesis: 10-year results
European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery Feb 06, 2018
Zibdeh O, et al. - A prospective randomized study was undertaken to compare the clinical performance of the Carpentier–Edwards supra-annular valve (CE-SAV) (Edwards Lifesciences, Irvine, CA, USA) and the newer Mosaic (Medtronic Corporation, Minneapolis, MN, USA) porcine bioprostheses in the aortic position over a 10-year period. In this study, the CE-SAV group showed greater freedom from reoperation at 10 years after implantation. The Mosaic group showed fewer thromboembolisms and more paravalvular leaks. No other statistically significant differences were identified between CE-SAV and Mosaic aortic prostheses.
