Randomized study of G-TL and global media for blastocyst culture in the EmbryoScope: Morphokinetics, pregnancy, and live births after single-embryo transfer
Fertility and Sterility Sep 01, 2020
Desai N, Yao M, Richards EG, et al. - Researchers conducted a prospective randomized study of sibling embryo culture in two culture media in order to evaluate the efficacy of two different in vitro fertilization culture media for blastocyst development, pregnancy, and live birth rate. Global (GB) medium (used without refreshment) was compared with G-TL medium (designed specifically for culture in time-lapse incubators) was performed. They performed comparison of kinetic data from 10,768 sibling pronucleate embryos cultured in the EmbryoScope. Per outcomes, both tested media well supported uninterrupted culture in a time-lapse incubator without medium refreshment. The superiority of one media over the other is not necessarily due to the differences in morphokinetics. Choice of culture medium had no significant influence on both pregnancy and LBR. Further, culture medium had no influence on the euploidy rate.
