Randomized double-blind trial of ringer lactate vs normal saline in pediatric acute severe diarrheal dehydration
Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Nov 30, 2017
Kartha GB, et al. - The objective of this work was to comparatively examine the effectiveness of Ringer lactate (RL) vs normal saline (NS) in the correction of pediatric acute severe diarrheal dehydration, as estimated by improvement in clinical status and pH (≥7.35). A link was illustrated between resuscitation with RL and NS with similar clinical improvement and biochemical resolution, in pediatric acute severe diarrheal dehydration. Therefore, NS was to be regarded as the fluid of choice due to the clinical improvement, cost, and availability.
